A new Spyware Worm that spreads via file sharing on
P2P networks and via email is in action with 2006 Winter
Games: "FREE OLYMPIC TICKETS LOTTERY" emails
i.e. W32/Bagle-CM (http://www.mwti.net/virus_info/virusalertd.asp?id=806).
It runs continuously in the background, providing a
backdoor server which allows a remote intruder to gain
access and control over the computer. It includes functionality
to access the internet and communicate with a remote
server via HTTP.
The various attachments include Generated_bill.exe,
Order_details.exe, Service_receipt.exe etc.
The subject line reads FREE OLYMPIC TICKETS LOTTERY!,
2006 Winter Games in Torino, 2006 Torino Winter Games
FREE Tickets etc. It appeals users with message text
"Attention: you received free ticket invitation
with attachment!" , so that they download the malicious
attachment. The content misguides the user as it looks
to be genuine with contact numbers, disclaimer and guarantee
verdict.
