Spyware and Anti-Spyware. Two names that clearly define

Secure Computer LLC of New York, on the firm’s
anti-spyware software ‘Spyware Cleaner’, is

globe.
This is the first lawsuit under Washington states’s
2005 Computer Spyware Act. Apart from this act, the
company has also been charged for deceptive marketing,
violation of commercial electronics, Mail and Antispam
acts. Punishments for these can run to over $100,000
in penalty.
Spyware Cleaner charges you $49.95 for a fully-working
version. Instead of removing spyware, it goes about
manipulating the windows settings on the computer apart
from pestering you with innumerable pop-ups. The law
suit claims that the software’s users get emails
pretending to come from MSN Member Services with the
subject line "Special Security Alert for MSN Members".
Naturally, Microsoft's suit gives importance to trademark
issues, stating the firm had suggested that Microsoft
had endorsed the product.
